Project Description
The FAS training centre is located in Athlone Co Westmeath.
Ecotherm were approached by the builder to devise a solution on how to structurally tie the two leafs of the building together as there was no wall ties present in the 160mm cavity and provide an insulation solution for the cavity wall.

Challenges
The fact that wall ties were not present in the building meant that we had to use a product that was capable of duplicating the same effect as wall ties would have on the cavity. WALLTITE was the product of choice due to its adhesion capabilities and compressive strength. The fact that we were to inject a 160mm cavity with WALLTITE meant that building regulations would be surpassed and the walls would be airtight. The product would provide for a sustainable, energy efficient building that satisfied all local planning laws and the needs of the clients’ insurance company.

Solution
Walltite injection comprises a closed cell structure which helps control the movement of vapour and moisture throughout the building thus reducing the risk of condensation and mould. The self adhesive properties of the system also meant that no extra costs were incurred for fixings. The walls are now airtight and building energy efficiency requirements
