The Primrose: best practice case study
Project Description
Ecotherm energy suctions were approached by the owner of the shipping trawler to devise solution to insulate the hull of the boat so that a refrigerated area could be incorporated to allow partial processing of fish when at sea.
Challenges
The challenge was to devise a method where by the obscure shape of the hull could be insulated leaving the structure airtight with a high u value so that the refrigerated unit would incur low running costs.
Solution
Walltite injection was the material of choice. A framework was erected inside the hull to act as the refrigerated unit. Walltite was then injected between the framework and the hull to give a seamless airtight solution.
